      I think it depends on the instance, I find lots of vitriol comments on lemmy.world.

    probably because social networks (including reddit) tend to destroy themselves (even without external help, they just get stagnant and boring) once they get too big?

    I saw a Lemmy user give ‘benefit of the doubt’ responses for seemingly curt comments, and then original commenter thanks them instead of feeling attacked. Bizarre to me. I feel like that happened on Reddit more often at some point, even for most non-specific communities, but I haven’t seen it since.

    So far, ive seen it not like this for sync threads, as well as very pro/anti topics on communism/america
