Germany also has this, it’s called Rundfunkbeitrag, but it’s often just referred to as GEZ-Gebühr, because it’s enforced by the Gebühreneinzugszentrale, or GEZ for short. They didn’t classify computers as TVs, but they also enforce it for FM radios, including those installed in cars, so you basically can’t get around it.

I just install Windows 11 Pro N, it comes with much less bloat than the normal Pro version. Then I run the Ameliorated playbook to get rid of most of the spyware and all the other junk. You can also run a script from privacy.sexy for good measure, but AME should handle most of it.
Just make sure to install the Windows Media Feature Pack from the “Optional features” dialog in the settings before running AME, because it might not be possible afterwards.

If you need a traditional, unencrypted DNS service, check out Quad9 and AdGuard’s Public DNS. If you can use DoT or DoH, use LibreDNS or Mullvad DNS. If you want more customization, check out NextDNS.

I’ve been active on dbzer0 for almost a year now, and I really enjoy this instance and the Lemmyverse as a whole. I specifically chose it, after I saw that lemmy.world banned piracy communities. I’m in the UTC+1/2 time zone, depending on daylight saving time, but I mostly work from home, so I’m available throughout the day. Having worked in both system administration and software engineering, I have quite a technical background. In my free time I passively engage with free and open source software projects (I participate in discussions on issue trackers, social media and in chat rooms, and try to promote FOSS projects, but I don’t contribute as much directly). I’m an anarchist, and I’ve been following the piracy movement since the early days of TPB, since I’m very passionate about about digital rights, and open access to information. I am deeply convinced that greedy corporations shouldn’t hold control over knowledge and culture.
I always report spam content/trolling whenever I see it, both here on Lemmy and on Mastodon.

The Ntfy Android app hasn’t been updated in almost a year, and in my experience it consumes more battery than Sunup.

Not only that, but they apparently also get large amounts of donations in crypto currencies. They also allow donating via PayPal or bank transfer. They set up a whole Canadian non-profit foundation in 2023. No, it’s not a special “FOSS” version, it’s just the official binary distributed through the Guardian Project repo (as I have proven: https://lemmy.dbzer0.com/comment/16230276). If you want a FOSS variant, check out Signal-FOSS or Molly, they also offer a FOSS variant. You can either download it from their custom F-Droid repo, pull the APK from GitHub using Obtainium or get it from Accrescent.

But it’s really not that hard to figure out. There are countless guides on the internet, and as I said, Signal even has a quick guide for how to verify the APK signature on the download page

Netdata is exactly what you’re looking for. It’s basically an all in one monitoring and and alerting suite that collects and analyzes data, and provides a gorgeous web dashboard for you to view.

You can also manually replicate this using Prometheus, Grafana and other tools, but that requires a much bigger effort to set up.
