Also, the level of effort to stream is as simple as a good browser, uBlock Origin, and having the URL.
I’d really like to see a firefox-like browser that can download torrents and allow you to watch right in it.
I would like to subscribe to your newsletter.
Will do. It was one of those moments where I said, “I can’t believe I’m on the same instance as this guy.”
I don’t give them any space in my brain so I usually down vote them and move on. But I’ll bring it to your attention if I see them from now on.
You made the Internet wonderful today. Thank you! I’m going to try it out.
I want gesture support so badly like in Nova Launcher.
Swipe up for one app, swipe down for another app, etc.
smart launcher does exactly one gesture (double tap) and is woefully inadequate for me.
Does lawn chair offer that?
I haven’t looked back since I left. Very much recommend
Not OP, but I have come across a few, not many, alt right users from the dbzero instance. Not enough to remember their names, but enough to know they definitely exist.
Though I will keep an open eye for them now.
- Must be willing to enforce instance rules as well.
Yup, I can do that.
- Being very active in /c/piracy will be a big a plus, as that will allow you to notice and respond to problem posts, even before they’re reported.
I’m probably not as active as I’d like to be but mostly because my Lemmy is set up to look at all.
- Knowledgeable about pirate culture and tech a plus.
I’m not sure what you mean about pirate culture but I’m in tech.
- Bonus if you’re an anarchist as that vibes with our instance’s culture, but not strictly necessary.
I’m not an anarchist but share many similar views. If that’s going to be an issue, I understand.
I’m on the US east Coast. UTC-5 right now.
Tin foil hat on
Because our society is moving more towards a post-truth reality. Ffs, the then vice president candidate stood in front of a grocery shelf to talk about how egg prices were $4, when the label behind him clearly says “$2.99”
Companies aren’t here to make life better. They are here to make money.
Every few months they would say, “Ugh the global supply chain is tightening” to prepare to raise prices.
All the while on their earnings calls they talk about how much profit they made in the last quarter.
I use NewRelic myself. They are software agnostic and only connect to your URL to get the expiration date.
If you set up LE correctly, it should never get an alert. I haven’t been alerted since I set it up, to the point that I wonder if I set up the monitor correctly.
The only thing I wish it could do is use custom ports. I have some services running on non standard ports.
My pixel has what’s called a “private” profile. It allows you to tie a different Google account to the apps downloaded to that profile.
So I would install the CVS app on that profile, find public credentials for the app (or create one with and then publish them). Use the app to unlock the shelf. Leave it open or unshelf everything.
Or just don’t shop there.
Can someone ELI5 the difference between Usenet and torrents? From a pirating standpoint anyway.
From a protocol standpoint, my understanding is that downloading from Usenet is no different than downloading from a website, eg you download the file from one server vs the data being sharded across multiple peers.
The level of effort to move to mastodon is not that much more than moving the bluesky. I agree not letting perfect be the enemy of good but this is a situation where they could have done something substantially better with only slightly more effort.
Am I glad they left Twitter? Sure.
Is there anything wrong with bluesky? Not right now.
Even if they moved to a managed mastodon instance, it would have been better.
Looks like a image licensing site.
Ooh it’s an early termination fee. OP made it sound like there was a fee on top of the subscription cost. Which I guess still fits the definition.
Still scummy.
Is there a modern version of this? I did a quick read through and, given our large surveillance network, some of these things aren’t practical.
Also, unless you specifically target alt-right targets, the likelihood of collateral damage is pretty high.
According to new lending startups, your social media activity and how low you let your phone battery get can be read as signs of creditworthiness, making loans available to those who may not have qualified otherwise
Yet the article discusses none of this. Just vague “data points”.
This sounds like discrimination based on “algorithms” but one that is legal.
You must explicitly, without any ambiguity, invoke your right to remain silent.
You can’t just remain silent.
Not OP, but I always prefer bash over python since it’s “lower level”. But that’s just a preference.
