In a democracy, when you’re not in power what do you do to get that power back? You show the electorate that you’re fighting for what they think is important. If Democrats absolutely insist on business as usual, promoting corporate interests and occasionally pausing to shout “fascist” at Trump, all the while just plain ignoring people’s actual concerns we’re going to lose the next election and the next one.
Do you think a large majority of Trump voters (not the vocal, terminally online ones) are actively hoping for an end to democracy? No, they’re just misled by someone who pretends to be on their side. And to turn the tide we need them back on our side. You think they’re going to be convinced by us shouting “fascist” at them? Obviously not. So what’s your plan to control the narrative?
Trump has a plan. Unlike the tone deaf democrats who even now don’t seem to be able to present a message that normal people are interested in. They’re seen mostly as defenders of the status quo. The status quo that forces folks to work 3 jobs to make rent, then Trump comes along and shouts “death to the status quo”. Just repeatedly shouting back “Trump is evil” isn’t going to cut it.
Great to see our representatives finally focusing on the real issues in these difficult times.

What’s more important, winning the fight over what label to put on those assholes or actually fighting what they do? It’s the same as people arguing about whether the Gaza situation is technically a genocide or not. Endless debate on the technicalities while nothing changes. Calling Trump and by extension all his followers “Nazis” just reinforces their belief that the “left” is their unrelenting enemy.

These are all pretty inflated, worst case scenarios. I won’t say I’ve never told a white lie but I go by the old fashioned golden rule and do unto others. I do my best to treat other people with decency and respect (which includes being truthful mostly) and have by and large received that back in spades.
That this was worse than nothing. Time after time we fall for the old “we’ll self-regulate trust us” and all it did was delay actual action being taken while a Democrat was in charge, and now we’re stuck for at least 4 more years. It was already godawful 4 years ago, 4 years from now the state of public discourse may be beyond repair.

I’m not going to downvote you and assume this is a genuine question. You appear to be aware that calling someone “abnormal” would be considered insulting. If you support the idea that someone having different sexual preferences is their own business, why would you want to use these labels? If one person likes math and the other likes literature, would you call one or the other abnormal? We all deviate from the norm because there is no norm.
That’s not at all amazing. What’s amazing is that a large number of people thought it was a great idea to hand over the power to decide what’s true or not to private companies. When they rolled out this “content moderation” used mostly against Trump the political left was beside itself with joy. I remember the taunts of “haha it’s a private company, they can publish whatever they want.” So incredibly stupid and short sighted.
First, while 10 or 13 million is of course enough to be considered very rich, if every guy with 10+ million got to decide national policy it wouldn’t be much of an oligarchy. “The 1%” is a catchy soundbite but in reality it’s more like the 0.01% that’s the problem.
Second, even if that were the case, an advocate for the people is an advocate for the people. Bernie Sanders isn’t poor but he’s one of the most dedicated and effective advocates for the working class there is. You can be well off and still be working for the betterment of your fellow citizens. You probably can’t be a billionaire and still credibly fight for more equality though. Gets tough to explain hoarding that kind of wealth.
