Anker. Still have cables I got in 2018. I’m not rough with my stuff though, so take it as you will.

Sad.grl was able to teach a schlep like me how to HTML, and I have high hopes she will be able to teach you too. :)
Not when I created one a week or two ago. Still requested a phone number before moving to the next step.
Might be dependent on location?
Start taking it back by creating your own nest here and then slowly self host it on your own equipment if possible. Then it will truly belong to you.
I recommend Neocities since I’ve used it and it actually taught me a little about HTML. Now that I know how my website works, and I have backups that I can download from Neocities when I want, if Neocities ever wants to go down a shitty path, I can always just throw the files I had on there onto my own server (with a bit of finagling I’m sure).
We can have our own green pastures while the average person stays on Facebook/Instagram/whatever.
It sucks, but that’s the cost of having the internet wildly available now. :/
So for someone who has a 2080ti, should I go with a 50 series card? If so, would anyone have a recommendation? I don’t need it right away by any means, as I’ll need to save up for an upgrade if I even can. I just know that I will need to replace it as newer games come out.
Thank you for this very in depth explanation. I see that it doesn’t matter that I spent my money to own my product to do what I want with it. :/
See, this point I understand completely. The moment you start making money from these types of things, you’re opening yourself up for lawsuits.
So, I have the prod keys from my own v1 Switch, and plugged those into the emulator, to play games I bought on physical carts.
I’ve never understood how that is illegal when everything (if you’re doing it legitimately of course) is done legitimately? They could’ve taken out the generic prod keys and be okay? Or does it not matter either way because Nintendo said so?
I’m genuinely curious because that seems like it’s well within my rights to do, but I’m not sure as legalese gives me a headache. :/
I’m crashing the fuck out guys. I’ve put up with these shenanigans for way too long. I am now just waiting for whatever pushes me passed the edge.
¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Again, I must bring the point that you can still say your side of the story (here is what we found out about Honey) and caution users of the extension to be wary of not only this shady business, but that who knows what else they might be doing.
Do people really think that someone with the platform as big as Linus Tech Tips shouldn’t bring awareness to such topics? Why not? Especially if you were once shilling for them??
You would simply tell your side of the story, and give caution to users of the extension that shady behavior like that is always accompanied by even more shady stuff.
Not really that hard to do, and you gave the info out to people who will dedicate their time (as MegaLag did) into looking into it either for their own interests or to see how deep the rabbit hole goes.
You are absolutely correct. I hadn’t thought about that. I will try to use the full name first from now on and then the acronym afterwards to make it easier for all to know what is what.
Thank you for bringing that to my attention!
While I see your point, I have to say posting about it on their own forums, where a lot of people that normally see their videos will not see it (since I’m sure that not everyone who subscribes to their main channel also would go to their forums…) I still think it’s pretty shitty to not inform your coworkers (other YouTubers) and especially their viewers who only tune in for videos they find interesting (like me). If they’re screwing over content creators, why would you not assume they’re also doubly screwing the regular joes?
Also, look at GamersNexus. They have no issues letting the people who respect them know when a company is up to no good, which in turn garners them even more respect and adoration.
“Hmm. Point out foul play, but lose out on some of that sweet sweet moolah? Nah. Can’t do that. That might make me look advertiser unfriendly!” Is basically what you’re getting at. I think that is a shitty mindset to have when shilling for companies.
Of course, no disrespect towards you, and I absolutely thank you for bringing this to the conversation. I was not aware of it because I am not that deep in the Linus Tech Tips community, I just find some of their videos fun/interesting.
Big Brother doesn’t like it when you turn the telescreen off for more than thirty minutes…
I don’t watch the WAN show because it’s not really my type of content. Haven’t they addressed concerns before on their main channel, or am I mistaken? If they found out Honey was scamming them, and just assumed other YouTubers knew or their audience, why not just make a quick video about it with a more in depth talking about it on the WAN show?
I watched the MegaLag video, and I may be mistaken, but he is the one that said LTT never said anything to anyone and just let it go. Thats what I’m referring to.
As much as I enjoy watching LTT content, I have to speak out about how they realized Honey was fucking them and then said NOTHING to their audience or to other YouTubers. I think that is just plain shitty of them and has put a sour taste in mouth with their content now. If they did say something, I apologize. I just haven’t seen it since the only “social media” I use is this singular one, Lemmy.
It’s the only place that hosts retrospectives of old games that I will never play, but love to learn about. :(
“Dude. You okay? You’re looking at me and my drink awfully weird…”
I can safely say that over 20 years of mainly Windows, I have never had any crashes or bugs. Ever.
I was using the same install of Windows since 2017, up to 2021, without a single issue. Why I had to reinstall it was because of a foolish mistake on my part, late late at night, trying to install Linux on a spare SSD I had lying around thanks to a laptop was really struggling to do anything any longer. Again, this was my fault 100% as I didn’t understand SDA/SDB/etc. I do now though!
With Linux, there is always something that prevents me from using my computer in a manner that I would consider “normal”. I mainly game. I use save editors, WeMod, and love to use mods on games that support it. I like how easy it is to set up my NAS, through Windows, without any extra fussing around in some config file somewhere. I like that I can just do what I’m planning to do with the computer that day, unlike in Linux where sometimes I can’t even do something basic like set a jpg as a poster for a downloaded YouTube video on Plex that is all hosted on my NAS. On openSUSE, apparently I can’t just do that. There is some arbitrary permissions issue preventing me from doing that, while on Windows, it just works.
Sometimes I wonder what actual programs Linux permanents use on the daily. I truly find it hard to believe it is a lot of applications, because most of the applications I like/need to use, will not work on Linux through Wine/Bottles/Proton. Nor do they have a Linux alternative. It makes me sad, because I truly want to get off that OS, but the wide amount of things I like to do always get snagged up on something in Linux.
All this to say that I absolutely fucking LOVE Linux, what it stands for, and the idea behind it. Just a counter argument, is all.
P.S. I’ve been an on and off again Linux noob since at least 2010, and even today, I am still trying to make the move. It’s just not as simple as the Linux evangelicals like to say it is.
