Would have been nice of the author to mention the massive amount of trade deals that Canada already has.

Canada is the only G7 nation to have free trade agreements with every other G7 nation. The wikipedia page on Canadas trade deals is huge, 15 free trade agreements with 51 countries.

And most of the countries he suggested in the article are under active negotioation, the big ones being:

• ASEAN
• Indonesia
• Mercosur

Canada could have free trade agreements with every country on the planet and would still probably trade more with the US because they’re right there, they make a lot of stuff, and are the worlds largest economy… We cant teleport goods around the planet yet.

I think that targeted public funding to create domestic industries would be a much better way to secure the economy against US isolationism. Specifically in high tech industries. Why export 100$ worth of lumber to buy 1000$ worth of chairs if youll pardon my gross economic oversimplification.

In terms of economics… well the average person globally doesn’t know the difference between monatary policy, fiscal policy, and their own asshole. Yes i am a “monthly” user of facebook. I log on about once a month as the strata for my building foes basically everything through facebook.

I look at it like internet explorer a few years ago, it has its claws in everything and its just easier to keep using than for people to find an alternative that satisfys everyone.

Nah its just statistics. Historically Canadas population has been less than 10% of that of the US, we’ve almost hit a record of 12% now.

I live in Germany but im from BC so i get hit more often with the “it must snow a lot there!” and i have to explain that it only snows a few days a year and that i’m a cold weather bitch.

Funny story though, i was on a pub crawl in 2018 in London (the real one) and i happen to run into a group of ~20 Canadian soldiers who had also joined it. 1. Unencrypt my laptop hardrive
2. Log into my OS
3. Log into the VPN
4. Log into teams
5. Use the authenticator app on my phone to enter the code that is on my screen
6. Use my fingerprint on my phone to verify that i am the person using my phone…

Step 5 was introduced a few months ago because the other steps weren’t secure enough. This is why half my colleagues aren’t available when they work from home…

I suggested that we just use slack as our work chat and leave teams as a red herring to dissapoint extremely talented hackers.
