  • Fellow Mbin user here.

When I go and press edit on a text-only thread of mine, I get the following fields in order:

    1. URL (empty)
    2. Title
    3. (unlabaled) the post body, the main text of the post
    4. (unlabeled and grayed out) the magazine it’s posted to
    5. Tags

Your links show up in the post body, but the mod wants you to paste the original article URL into the URL field instead. If you’re using another language than English, it might be named differently.

Alternatively, when making a post, you can decide between creating a “link”, a “thread”, a “photo” or a “post” (exact wording might differ between languages and instances). This is currently a thread, but they want you to pick the link option instead. But like I said, editing should include the ability to fill in a link without having to recreate the post as a link post.

  • I’ve read that too, but I still have the ability to add a custom list. It says initially, so I assumed they got around that issue by now, considering it isn’t the case for me.

I technically use Edge which afaik still allows MV2, so in case the extension somehow implements both and defaults to mv2 if available, I’ve decided to install Chrome and get ABP there to test. Even in Chrome, the ability to add a custom list is still there. As are all the other features, like manual updating. With custom list I mean both the ability to add a list per URL, and the ability to add custom arbitrary rules directly.

I don’t really see why element blocking wouldn’t be possible or allowed under Manifest v3. Like, it’s entirely client-side. Manifest never comes into play there.

What I can imagine is that custom lists might work that same way too, removing the ads from the page after they’ve already loaded rather than blocking the web request directly which is afaik how adblocking works in mv2. I can’t tell you if that’s the case or not.

  • It comes out as individual lines here on Mbin, so OP does seem to have used line breaks. Weird though that on Lemmy, including OP’s home instance, it doesn’t work.

Does Lemmy maybe have a thing where line breaks work differently in the editor than the final post/comment? Like, Reddit expects you to put two spaces on the previous line for the line break to count, but it will display a line break in the editor by simply pressing enter. So the post as it looks in the editor isn’t necessarily how the final product will look like. Does Lemmy do something similar maybe?
