I’ve owned the place for a while and every now and then I’d notice the terminal blocks he had connected the wires to. It was also pretty cool that they used the same color conventions all those years ago. It encouraged me to look into the history of Ethernet wiring as well. 
The waxy stuff is part of how they manufactured the wire and works its way out over time.

It seems unfortunate that you have to fix the tools you need to use for your job, but I imagine it’s nice when the tools are fixed and you can just focus on what you do best.

My company has decided there are too many holidays so they just give us hours we can use whenever. This would be cool except I’ve maxed out my vacation hours and I never use the holiday hours.

I like these settings. Mine has a turbo too but you have to hold the button for several seconds. It says 3 seconds but it’s more like 5. This is too inconvenient so I rarely use it.

The technology for this has existed for 20+ years and is actually fairly common. It’s often referred to as dynamic range compression. I think the chief complaint here is that it needs to be more accessible. Pre-applying it would mess up too many use cases.
Yeah no kidding, this guy uses decibel scale but doesn’t understand decibel scale. I fucking hate leaf blowers but 55dB seems like a reasonable starting point to me. It won’t even barely reach your yard from a neighbor’s.
