  • I mean, fair is fair.

If I build a treehouse in the backyard of a building I’m renting (with landlord approval ofc), then I move out, I don’t take the tree house with me, US law states moreorless that anything that is not portable, when installed on a piece of land, become that land owners property.

The US built a canal on Panama’s property. Under agreement from both parties, sounds like the same should apply here. The amount of money spent and who spent it doesn’t really matter imo. It’s on panama’s land, its panama’s property.

  • I’ve never used bit warden, but I migrated from Nordpass to keepass, I currently use a private key for my second form of Authentication so even if my vault is stolen it can’t be decrypted cuz they would need the private key along with it

It’s a stupid simple setup, because I use syncthing to synchronize my Vault across all systems, and I have syncthing set up that way it keeps three or four versions of the Vault active at a time so if I somehow managed to corrupt The Vault I can just use an older version, this way I only have one account that I’m locked out of instead of all accounts.

As for 2fa, yeah I do the same thing as the other guy my 2fa is stored in my vault. I used to use authy for everything, then they decided that it wasn’t secure to have a desktop app, and since I don’t have my phone on me at all times I decided just fuck it and threw it all in one location. It’s less secure but there isn’t a decent desktop 2fa app available that I know of. Technically I could make a seperate keepass vault only for 2fa but that would be a second password to remember

  • it’s not an entire app but, discord profile decorations.

The fact it costs money isn’t surprising, but the amount of money charged is hilarious.

17$ for some graphics that some look like they took about 20 minutes to make. Just to make your profile look different than everyone elses. Then the “discount” given for having nitro for it is even more laughable.

Whats equally insane is that people fall for it. I know some people that have easily spent 60$ on profile decorations. Spending equal or greater than the cost of discord nitro is insane to me, even if the decoration doesn’t expire.

  • There’s an easy solution for that.

    F em.

I did that back in 2015 when I moved to discord for my primary social platform. “I am am leaving Skype and Facebook, anyone who wants to reach me can do so at discordname

Did all my friends move? No, did I lose anything of value doing so anyway? Also no. The people who still wanted to message me either reached out to my family or myself for a phone number, or added me on discord.

You don’t need all your friends to follow, what you need is enough people to leave the platform anyway that more people use that than other platforms in your friend group. That’s why Skype died as fast as it did, a combination of instability and enough people deciding they didn’t care who they left behind and just went to discord anyway.

  • I refuse to comprehend why an admin override style panel is even needed for this. It’s one thing if its owned by the dealer, but if you have the title to your car, its unnecessary for your employees to need access to every customers vehicle past purchase. Once it’s been handed over, there is zero reason for a remote employee to be able to access your car remotely, paying for a service or not.

This isn’t a third party gaining access to a customers account, this is a third party gaining access to a Subaru employees account, who for some reason can access an “admin panel” that has every Subaru car in it and the ability to remote control it. That’s insane.
