You have to finish a licensed class and pass the tests they give you, then you apply to the government and wait about a month to get your PAL in the mail assuming you pass the background checks.

There’s MANY things I dislike about Trudeau. I’ve been pretty impressed with his fast and appropriate responses on these issues. I’m so tired of people not taking the insanity seriously.
Its driver manager is better for newbies. Worse for experienced users though imo.
This isn’t Debian’s fault! It’s purely an Ubuntu/Canonical problem. Debian’s only apt by default, no snap.
Meh, it’s just internal politics. Whether or not it’s rust makes no difference to the layperson whatsoever. I’m in favour of rust but don’t blow it out of proportion.
Rust is already as fast as C and memory safe. The reasons people don’t want it in the kernel basically amount to being a boomer that doesn’t like new things for immaterial reasons. Rust has already proven itself capable in mission-critical applications like drivers.
Linux has support for almost any architecture you can think of. Remember, free software can be compiled from source, which makes it comparatively easy to port to different architectures.
Shopping “hub”? No. But online Canadian shops still exist, they are separated into niches though.
You can either choose the monopoly controlling the entire market and abusing their staff, or smaller companies that you have to spend an extra minute searching up.

What the hell do they mean “shaky financial future”? Canada Post is a public service. Do roads have a “shaky financial future” as well? We really need to get past this capitalist delusion that government services should somehow make money when they’re there to serve the public.
Because it’s not free software. It’s proprietary, so you’re still putting everything into the hands of some random corporation. Software freedom is important, and important to this community specifically.
Let the games begin
Agreed. Notably, Bluesky doesn’t require an account to read posts.
Really wish Phoronix would stop using AI slop for their articles.
Hey, there are NDP ridings here too!
Sure, so instead you would rather he knows… Absolutely nothing? Genius plan there, bud
Are we really still the crazy ones when Microsoft wants to keep a log of screenshots of your desktop?
I say that, because most mainstream media is unreliable as hell nowadays. CBC is still alright, though, which is why PP wants to get rid of it.
American mainstream media is 100% bought out and in on MAGA narratives.
There’s lots of credible people covering current events on YouTube. It’s still important to know their biases but I believe I get a more complete story from them rather than just the media spin.

OK. They aren’t products. Not really sure why you feel the need to announce this.
I don’t think it has anything to do with Trump, you might’ve jus been missing it. I’ve been working near a homeless shelter for years. It’s been bad for a long while, and has just been worsening. The way we treat homeless people is really fucked, especially since it could be any one of us.
