What? Have you ever had a battery powered device for longer than 2 years?
What? Have you ever had a battery powered device for longer than 2 years?
I believe it’s similar to road rage. You are very restricted in your way of communicating and cannot read the other’s emotions at all. That means you have to interpret a lot more and that is done in your own state of mind, meaning you can easily take offence where non was meant and the other has no chance to de-escalate as they would in face-to-face communication.
Ignoring trolls and actual assholes, that kind of misinterpretation happens so easily, I’ve often seen it among friends (via chat) and my own mother raged about an email I sent her (which was then de-escalated by a single sentence in a phone call). That’s also the reason, sarcasm works so poorly online.
Scam and speculation are the only use cases after all.
Of course it’ll crash. Saying it’s imminent though suggests someone needs to exercise their shorts.
Well, you know how cyclists complain about cars blocking or speeding on their parts of the street? Same goes for pedestrians and cyclists because people being assholes isn’t dependent on their type of vehicle. That’s why you have to slow down even bikes sometimes.
Gotcha. We’re almost twice as many.

I don’t know about addictiveness but sugar isn’t as harmful as alcohol, for example. Don’t get me wrong - in my opinion the negative effects of sugar aren’t taken seriously enough but they are far less pronounced and further down the road, while you can easily destroy your whole life in a year of alcoholism.
Good default, I’m of the same opinion, in general. We should only restrict entry age if simple education isn’t enough - as can be seen by teen suicide rates rising in parallel with the spread of social media.
Sugar isn’t restricted but alcohol and tobacco are. Why is that? Because there’s a difference in addictiveness and possible harm done.
No, bullying isn’t the only danger. Addiction is another and that’s just as bad here as for any other feed-based system. Legal addictive substances also have an entry age of at least 16, usually higher.
Traditional media aren’t associated with bullying and suicide risk. Social media are.
Teens have always bullied, so it’s hardly a surprise or preventable on social media. It implies that the victim cannot escape from it though and at least leave it at school. So moving entry age to a level, bullying isn’t as bad is a good idea in my book.
Using an actual flushing toilet after being out in the wilderness for even just a few days
That first shower though! And I count music festivals as being in the wilderness for a few days.

Leave the poor witch alone, he wrote it himself.
I just want to turn the thing on and play Factorio or Minecraft, not figure out if my 4080 will run on it etc.
Funny that you chose two games that run natively on Linux.
Lots of stuff and while telemetry eventually made me quit, the most annoying have always been random performance issues. Still have to use Windows at work and I sometimes get progress bars in the Windows Explorer when accessing a fucking directory on the local SSD.
And most people still seem to prefer that because terminal bad.
Filming, duh.
the fact that they’re microscopic might be an issue
Why? All that means is you may already have one without knowing it.
I didn’t mean they only last 2 years but battery degradation is a pretty common and known thing.
By a quick search I didn’t find any claim of storage battery lifetimes outside of 10-15 years, so there doesn’t seem to be a breakthrough in tech I wasn’t aware of. 15 years is hardly the lifetime of a house, so you certainly don’t “buy only once”.
Solar panels also don’t work indefinitely but their efficiency degradation is more on par with the lifetime of major parts of the building, like the roof itself.
