I have over 100,000 photos I have taken. I can do a search of “blue sky with pink clouds and a moon” and it will show me the photo I want.

The way I did it before would take me 2-3 days of looking at every photo one by one to find that photo.

The other benefit of the server is I can access all these apps from my laptop, phone, desktop, or using my VPN from anywhere in the world.

If they are on windows, did it just change the default program that opens photos? You can go in the properties and change the default program.

I was using office 2007 still on windows 10 before I switched to Linux. Old versions are really cheap.

The one that was way more useful then expected is immich. I have over 100,000 photos I took during my life and it usually takes me DAYS to find a specific picture I need.

I installed immich and let it AI scan everything for a week or something. Now I can search for something specific like “it’s a black square in the middle of the photo and has a little knob on it” and it finds me the photo I need.

It’s also cool to see photos of people, organized by the individual by searching their name or clicking on their face.

Yes the county rules are very important, there’s only a few counties that allow this. I moved to a state that allows us to live in an RV and to build our own house out of almost any materials.

It really really depends on the county and it’s rules, there are a few counties near here that have permits to live in an RV, the county I am in is a bit more restrictive and requires a building permit to have an RV.

Right now we are camping in the car as we wait for the septic, since it’s holidays things are a bit slow now.

I went with buying raw land out of the city, for me it’s a 30 minute drive and no traffic, my “rent” is under $200 for the year of property taxes. I own the land for less than 1 year of rent.

I can live in an RV, and I can build a house or convert a shed to live in so it’s super affordable, plus I have room for a garden to feed my family.

I won’t be living in the containers, just using them as storage. Thanks for the warnings though, I will limit my time in them. I did want to make a workshop in there, but after adding lots of vents.

I sold my matrix recently, nice car, good gas Mileage, plenty of space to haul stuff when the seats fold down (I somehow hauled a 53” tool box in it once). Little weird the trunk is plastic, but has tie down rails. I miss the car a lot, but I moved out of state and could only drive one car.

2025 will be a busy year for me.

Just bought raw land and waiting for the septic install at the moment (Might be a few weeks away).

I just moved out of Los Angeles. LA is crazy.

My first car in college got broken into, they stole my Sub in the trunk and my CDs, but they couldn’t get the radio out and broke the faceplate.

I felt so f-ing violated. It was my first car, my home away from home, my freedom to go places. I was traumatized like ptsd. That lasted a long time.

6 months later the entire car was gone, they stole it. Police took 2-3 days to find it. There was no tires, no engine, no muffler, and the interior was trashed.

I was destroyed for a long time after that. Fuck thieves!!!

I threw a Xmas party at my house with friends, and one “friend” had a new girlfriend and they went into the bathroom and stole a ton of my moms makeup, jewerly, and other stuff.

Then maybe a month later that same guy poured white paint on my car windows. What a nice friend I had.

I had another friend move out of state, and he left me to take care of his dog for a few months… turns out he stole $1000 worth of stuff from my house, canceled my phone plan and never came back for his dog.

My wife was almost kidnapped as a kid, it freaked her out and when she was home she had her parents check all the cabinets for the kidnapper.

Years later someone broke into her attic, which the stairs led into her bedroom. That one also really freaked her out. She knew who the guy was too. I saw him once and he gave me a nasty look and I took his picture lol

So glad to be out of LA now.

What annoys me the most is since his last drama, Linus HAS to be the face in every video now! Wtf it used to be a bunch of them took turns making videos, and it was fun seeing everyone work on different things. He has to be front and get all the attention, it just feels weird now.

Maybe use privacy.com instead (they also have an app), they can generate virtual credit cards and you can set limit is (one time payment, or monthly $10 only, etc). It’s great if you need to cancel something or if they try to charge you extra. Saved me $150 when boost tried to charge me 1 year after I bought a phone from them!

It’s also great for predatory services like GYM membership that you can’t cancel.
