  • The thing is, most billionaires are sociopaths. You don’t get there without being able to treat people like cattle, and consider yourself far, far, far above everyone else.

They’re all late game capitalist oligarchs, which almost always trends towards fascism in the end. It’s no surprise, it’s been happening for a while now, we’re just the biggest country to fall under this spell.

They don’t have any morals or ethics, they only have one purpose: Make more money at any expense to build their dragon hoard further.

They’ll praise trump and suck his dick if it doubles their earnings. That’s all they ever cared about. And trump will absolutely do them favors if they kiss his ass. It’s one of the things he was impeached for already.

  • American currently immigrating to Portugal.

It’s a lot of work, and the US has the most insane tax code rules for citizens/dual citizens in the world.

The amount of documentation you need to provide, and get apostilled, and hoops you have to jump through to is pretty intense. That’s not counting that to get a visa requires either a lot of paperwork/being a student (I’m not a student), degrees, and spending time living over there (usually 180-300 days a year, minimum), that if you want to work around that it’s quite expensive (Investorship visa’s aren’t cheap).

There’s also the level 2 language test required pretty much anywhere you go that doesn’t speak English as a primary language.

It’s worth it to me and my family, but it is not easy by any stretch to do.

  • Surround yourself with groups of people you like hanging out with and admire in some way. Look at them as ways to learn and grow yourself.

Others in here have suggestions on how to meet these sort of people, but you’ve gotta pick the right ones. It’s ok to make some mistakes, that’s life. Just be willing/ready to cut out toxic people in your life quickly or they’ll poison the sort of person you’re hoping to become.

There are lots and lots of great people out there. I received almost no support from my family growing up or as an adult. My friends were my family, and I’ve learned everything about who I am from them.

  • I don’t know what you’re referring to. Most serverless requires docker, like Fargate ECS. You can even run docker in lambda now.

It’s literally the convenience of not having to manage the hardware and pay per use, rather than always on hardware.

Same with serverless PaaS options like Aurora, Dynamo, Rekognition, etc.

That’s worth a lot to a lot of people in the industry. Sure, you can save more money by running it on hardware you reserve and maintain, but that’s the cost/benefit analysis you need to make on a case by case basis.
