Really sorry 😔
Interesting perspective on Epicticus, (Stoic philosopher) here seen as a selfish rich man’s philosopher, the dichotomy of control a way to calm someone upset because their entitlements are not arriving as they prefer.
It’s para social. The person consuming it feels as though they are part of a relationship. EFIT: like TV but more interactive.
Limited cognitive empathy is teachable in many cases. It’s not so rare.
“And you ain’t in it!”
It does seem they’ll try to use his case as a deterrent to anyone thinking about following in his footsteps. I think they will be harsh and he’ll be made into a martyr. The religious imagery of Saint Luigi may be apt and more than just a meme.
There are many influences. One is pure resentment of elites as know-it-alls which propagandists amplify. A bit of Dunning–Kruger effect at the same time as people without specialized training can’t even comprehend what they don’t know. Another is how difficult it is to think probabilistically so that people can’t easily appreciate risk. And as more and more people proclaim conspiracy theories as truth there is peer pressure to confirm.
That’s pretty cool.
It’s fine to develop relationships at work and move them into “on good terms” territory if that is viable. It’s also fine if it is possible to move those viable work-friendships outside of the work environment to see if they can stand on their own. What is not smart however is to think that work-friendships are real friendships just because “we get along” at work. Most work friendships will drop you like a hot rock if you get fired. It’s important to be ready for that to happen even as you see what friendships might be viable.
Banana as Veblen good
What are the chances that they will actually be respectful do you think. Might there be a case for simply not inviting them?

Rockwell-esque is a great way to capture it. Like one of the old Saturday Evening Post magazine.
This is strangely compelling as an image
Not OP but usually mash means that there is one SSID shared across multiple routers and access points
This isn’t good advice for everyone. It might not even be good advice for most people. However, I’ll give you the benefit of the doubt that it would be good for you to do this.
Many people do not grasp the sheer size of the disparity between the truly wealthy and everyone else.
What is that from?
Assuming you’re operating in good faith, just take the feedback and try to learn from it.
