You don’t want you sysadmin doing content moderation. They’re used to back end work and purging/protecting their instance from the liability of its users. It should be expected an admin will be more stringent and authoritative than volunteer mods.

I find it very useful to check users modlogs, especially if they’re complaining about acts of moderation on them. It is the most available and direct evidence for any claim.

Until communities within instances can federate with each other this kind of consolidation is likely inevitable. Though that’s more of a lemmy specific perspective.
