There are presumptions that you were of sound mind and it was you. Unsurprisingly, courts are full of weasely, pro se people who waste everybody’s time because they, very much incorrectly, think that they can get out of agreements by going into court and making the brilliant, one of a kind argument of “but your honor, they can’t prove that I clicked it. I was hacked/someone else must have logged in as me!” People do this all the time and they lose all the time. Modern commerce literally would not function without these presumptions.

That’s what I don’t get though, these people seem to be delusional in that they think that they’re a hard worker and looooove in person, so therefore every hard worker loves in person and the chaff will quit. Well a couple things, if possible I call ahead and see if anything can be modified, and if not I find some reason to bail. If it’s spontaneous, I benefit from, frankly, being a pretty heteronormative man so I can always manage to get beer and a large side. I really only have to let people know ahead of time if it’s some kind of work event, in which case the staff member in charge of us attending the event handles it but I’m not in that situation a lot. Not sure about other states, but in my state you can agree to mandatory arbitration for past incidents as long as they don’t do reeeeeally egregious behavior like, eg, slipping a notice into your normal bills and having you “agree” by not objecting within X days.
