I’ve never gotten why Brave got popular in the first place. I downloaded it once and uninstalled within 3 minutes.
Cromite and Waterfox are all I’ll ever need.

Ah I see, ty
If you’re on Android why not just use revanced or Newpipe? Both are excellent and I haven’t had issues with revanced since this change.
Would love to see the military force MS to contribute to WINE development until all govt apps work on Linux.
Problem is, there’s a lot of really specialized, critical software, that is provided by vendors and throws an absolute fit with any change. You could maybe run Windows in a VM, but it may not work with the specialized hardware and networking gear being used, and now you’re spending a bunch of extra time and money setting up a vm if windows inside Linux, which means you also have to train everyone on how to use the VM, adds another management/security issue, and adds another point of failure.
If they ever switch (the entire govt should, it would be so awesome to see the govt resources put into Linux development instead of M$ pockets) it’d have to be a very gradual process, and windows would still be around decades from now for legacy systems. (If the US hasn’t imploded in civil war or the planet melted by then 🫠)
Yep! Note that if you end up running Cromite on Windows and want auto-updates, you’ll have to download and set up a shortcut with chrlauncher as well as a custom config file. Only takes a few minutes though and works great once set up.
This isn’t about making iPhone users care per se, I really think it’s just a public perception thing.
Personally I used Bromite and switched to Cromite. Still the best mobile browser for Android IMO.
ABP built-in, userscript support, privacy/security enhancements, option for bottom address/tab bar, etc.
Problem is, it could end up going the way of Bromite as well, which would mean searching for a new browser again.
I’m excited for Waterfox Android, whenever that releases, as I switched back to Waterfox for my desktop browser recently, but there hasn’t been any word on that lately so no clue when that’ll happen.
Edit to add that I also love that Cromite has a desktop version. I always wanted a desktop version of Bromite, and I now have Cromite set up alongside Waterfox in case I need a chromium browser for compatibility. Once Waterfox Android releases, I’ll have the perfect browser setup.
Yes, a wiki is an EXCELLENT idea. IDK if there are any plans to add wiki functionality on Lemme, but man it’d be nice.
Twitter was absolutely special when it came out. It was the first (or at the very least first successful) social media designed for mobile use. It also had large effects on how people thought about and used social media, and had big impacts on the ways various companies and people interact on social media.
I’ve never particularly cared about twitter personally, I used it a handful of times here and there, and I agree that currently and for a while it’s been a pretty shit slice of social media. But saying it was never special is a stretch at best.
I mean, too bad. You’re accessing the results of your genetic data that contain sensitive personal information on relatives as well as yourself. Banks require 2FA, and people figure out how to use that.
I removed copilot the instant I saw it. I don’t need any more Microsoft online shit built into my OS, thanks. (I also use Arch, but Windows kernel anti-cheat)
Imagining the Mozilla AI as a personified Firefox and Thunderbird fighting off Cortana, some BARD (sorry) and a bunch of generic evil corporate AIs just makes me excited that Mozilla would be the one fending everyone off.
The whales are the devs IRL
Thanks for the info.
Culturally they appear to favor authoritarianism, nationalism, and strong man mentality in their politics.
Yeah, while I understand that there is an element of that that’s uniquely Russian, I mean that was also much of the world for much of history.
But like you said, no easy answer.
And yeah obviously the people I interact with outside of Russia will give a different perspective. I just always got the vibe from them that a large portion of the population resented Putin, but apparently that’s less of a vibe than I thought.
Putin still enjoys widespread public support, and the vast majority of the Russian public supports both the explicit goals of the war as well as the implicit ones
Sources?
Every Russian I’ve interacted with has expressed their distate for Putin.
This is a problem bigger than Putin, bigger than the oligarchs, and bigger than the current regime.
So could you explicitly point to what the problem is? Bc it seems to me that the oligarchs and Putin have been doing their best to brainwash and ensure that they remain in power, to the detriment of the Russian people.
Fuck Putin. The Russian people do not deserve the hardships they’re enduring due to his warmongering rn
Yeah just did a fresh install and once I installed Waterfox I just had to click a single button when prompted.
However this was Tiny11 so I am unsure if that applies equally to normal Win11.
I think that we as humans put ourselves above all other animals a lot. But as animals with a higher level of awareness, I feel that we have a responsibility to treat all other animals with respect.
If someone thinks it’s justified to experiment on animals, I see it as their moral obligation to do everything in their power to minimize the suffering that animal will experience.
Also, if this technology could potentially help with handicaps (big X to doubt moment tbh) I absolutely do not want Elon fucking Musk to be the one who owns the technology, so I hope they hit his company with the book.
