I was going to post this but Lemmy told me your post was already here… nice.
I’ve been using Linux everyday for around 25 years and I’d never heard of the column
command somehow!
Just a geek, finding my way in the fediverse.

Work on the chicken coop, work on the truck, and then see about hanging a solar Meshtastic node that I recently finished building.
I’ll find something else to screw up and cause it to break, don’t worry.
You’re not my supervisor!
Makes sense; people are stupid. Me included at least half of the time.
I remember a backpacking buddy talking about a tool for puncturing the (empty) fuel cans for “jet boil” camping stoves because they couldn’t be recycled without very clearly being empty.
If you’re not abusing it, credit card companies are more than happy to do charge backs via disputes.
And, what, the shady company that scammed you is going to fight a multi billion dollar corporation?
I’ve used this a few times when I got fucked and the company doing the fucking didn’t respond or didn’t care.
I’ve pet a lot of opossums. Not been bit by one… But those teeth are scary.
Computer programming and related tech skills. Why? Because I’ve been doing as a job and for fun for over 35 years and have been teaching it for 5 so I guess it works out.
We’re a small household with minimal laundry so 5 gallons is more like a 10 year supply for us… I’m here for it : D
People who are readily willing to admit they’re wrong and learn why, and on the flip side be able to correct others in an educational/non-condescending way, are the best people.
I love those people.
I was that someone at a company in the early 2000s. I can confirm that it was, in fact, fun.
A coworker and I came up with every offensive word we could think of over a few days. Then, on Friday afternoon, we shared a 6 pack and got really inventive.
I’d imagine the list is still kicking around that company somewhere and hope it is our eternal legacy.
Hi there thermostat buddy. 19.5 here too.
I like my Bluetti stuff but in some aspects Ecoflow has more flexibility (dual fuel), though at a higher price point.
A few high points :
Historically (from Internet and friends, that is to say - anecdotally), Ecoflow has had better customer service than Bluetti but I’ve not had any problems with Bluetti. I’ve not had any problems with the products but they quickly refunded me the difference on their “30 day price” guarantee when I asked.
I decided against Jackery when I started this journey because they were higher priced and not using LiFePO4 yet. Not sure on prices but it seems they’ve updated the battery chemistry.
My use case is home power outage so 2kWh was my min capacity (AC200P) and I eventually got an AC300 too. I have an EB3A just because I caught it for $70.
The EB3A is annoying as desktop computer UPS, don’t try it… Unless you’re okay with it running fans when it charges pretty often whenever it drops to 99%. There were also UPS mode switching problems on older versions. Never experienced that but I stopped using it after two days because of the constant charge cycling.
EDIT: prices between brands are as I remember them when I was doing comparisons and I have not checked prices in 1 to 3 years. So, likely different now.
I just enjoy that I can call them “xbone”
Internal RAID1 as first line of defense. Rsync to external drives where at least one is always offsite as second. Rclone to cloud storage for my most important data as the third.
Backups 2 and 3 are manual but I have reminders set and do it about once a month. I didn’t accrue much new data that I can’t easily replace so that’s fine for me.
Is there a sim card buried in there somewhere that can be removed or is it soldered in, potted, etc?
… Or your car bricks if you remove it wouldn’t surprise me, regardless.
Might vary by locale? Around here (South US) it seems like every single store has their own rewards/discount/whatever system that requires your phone number but it’s not necessary for the transaction… It’s just an extra info grab.
Sometimes the user facing POS/credit card reader will let you handle it (enter/skip) but many places rely on the salesperson to ask and then enter it or skip.
But, I also don’t get around much so my experience is limited.
Same.
Cashier: “What’s your phone number?” (For the store tracking/rewards/whatever)
Me : “Don’t have one!” (As I remove the credit card from the case on the back of myphone)
Nobody has questioned it once. They don’t want to ask in the first place but are forced to.
I’d made it so long without hearing that song until it popped up in Umbrella Academy. Streak ruined.
Differs by company, of course, but the one I used to work for would wipe, reimage, and sell them to employees for $50.
