Is this using ollama on the console?
I’ve been missing out on great ai use cases if I can just ask it to summarize a YouTube link.
Lemme clarify a bit. I love reader mode too and agree it cuts out a lot of cruft.
My point was that authors and articles spend less time trying to write an engaging article and more time trying to shove SEO keywords and questions into articles. It ruins the article and makes it something not worth reading.
Reader mode is great but if the substance isn’t there then it’s all for naught.
In fairness I don’t see a lot of Twitter links in general here with or without a ban. Most people use xcancel when they have to and have no other option.
IMO a ban here would be more symbolic than effective.
The problem I run into is most news sites optimize for 2 things
So most sites have a fuck ton of noise and carpet bomb ads.
I’d love to go back to the RSS model but it’s hard finding sites worth reading again.
A lot voted trump, so yes?
Someone on HN said this is basically a cover for the fact that they’ve been in a hiring freeze since 2023.
Same. I love vertical real estate
Especially since stuff you want to watch changes services all the time.
It’s like if your DVDs of the star wars trilogy got replaced by the Brady bunch and then told you to pay more for that privilege.
Oh yeah I remember the AltaVista, Lycos, Ask Jeeves, and Dogpile days. I agree searxh has come a long way. I’m just saying Google used to be better in that old sweet spot.
I mean google was already like this before GenAI.
Its a nightmare to find anything you’re actually looking for and not SEO spam.
Gen AI cuts out some of that noise but it has its own problems too.
I made the switch and never looked back.
Only thing it cost me was recently Apex Legends but I can deal.
Then you can wipe out windows when you realize you don’t use it anymore :)
No Starch Press usually does good stuff.
No Starch, Manning, and O’Reilly are my go to publishers for tech books.
I try to avoid Packt like the plague.
That one ruined Danny Devito. Maybe we’ll be lucky enough this ruins Musk?
