A van can’t deal with even remotely muddy grass. I lost count of how many vans I rescued, back when I had my pickup. They are also a lot less effective at dragging a horse trailer etc. Vans also (generally) don’t have back seats. If you’re also having to trek up and down the motorways, then the comfort of the ranger makes a big difference.

They have there place, but they are in the same boat as vans etc. They are commercial vehicles, to do a job, not city runabouts to stroke egos.

The atmosphere stops a lot of the high energy stuff. It gets absorbed, and turned into a shower of lower energy particles.

I remember reading once about an astronaut seeing blue flashes in their eyes. When they realised, they got behind the water tank sharpish. It was high energy particles passing through their eyeballs.

Fruit flies, as used in labs are not like their wild cousins. They have been bred to be exceptionally consistent, since this makes X-Y experiments easier. If you take genetically identical eggs, and raise them in effectively identical conditions, you get almost the same wiring.

There will still be areas of variability, but a lot will be conserved. This is likely an “average” wiring. Once you have even an approximate baseline, you can vary things and see how the wiring adapted.

They’ve now, at least, released a standard set of markings. Basically, the data speed in Gb and the power capacity in Watts will be printed on the connector. Whether chinese suppliers will bother complying is another matter.

The key to steam is that they realised that being user centric, while bad for short term profits is very good for long term profits. They are also not publicly traded, so not just anyone can buy in and try and make a quick buck burning them to the ground.

I’ve found their store and setup to be a reasonable balance of advertising to functionality. The fact that you can adjust it yourself is a good example of their mindset. Most people don’t care or find them useful. Those who don’t like them are unlikely to interact with them, so it’s not worth fighting their efforts to turn them off.

The connectome is a map of individual neurones. The projectome is a map of how larger regions interconnect. Particularly the relative strength of the links.

It’s the difference between a detailed road map vs the relative road capacity between countries. It cuts out a lot of fine detail to see larger patterns. Both are useful, but in different ways.

Discworld is one of those series that shows that a good book doesn’t necessarily make good tv. You would definitely want writers who can stick to the spirit, while diverging where necessary.

There’s also the possibility of telling whole new stories in the Discworld. It has a LOT of milage as a backdrop for other stories.

My job has large patches like this. I refer to it as “fire duty”. I’m not being paid to do anything. I’m being paid to do the correct thing in an emergency. I’m the insurance.

Your best bet is to check your rules, either on paper, or to ask and do an appropriate hobby. It’s particularly effective if its a cumulative hobby (thing programming rather than computer games). If queried on it, you’re just keeping your brain up at speed.

It depends on your vehicle.

I personally drive a van, most of the time. Checking over my shoulder is a waste of time. What I do need is situational awareness. I’m aware of where my blind spots are, both absolute (e.g. directly behind my back bumper) and partial (e.g. the spot down my side).

I try and keep an awareness of everything entering and leaving my blind spots. I also do 2 checks of all spots that could have problems when manoeuvring. It’s alarming how often a small car or bike can slip through blind spots, when you’re doing your checks.

Basically, know your vehicle, and do what’s appropriate to keep everyone safe.

Unfortunately, we are currently trying to beat the gammons back down with a stick. We had 4 years with an idiotic government, making extremely self-serving decisions. We feel for what you’re going through, but we aren’t in a good place to help.

There are lot that fit that pattern. However, most/all naturally used irrational numbers seem to be normal. Maths has, however had enough things that seemed ‘obvious’ which turned out to be false later. Just because it’s obvious doesn’t mean it’s mathematically true.

Interestingly, most natural radioactive material in nature comes from uranium. Uranium is also a heavy metal, and is quite toxic in its own right.

It’s likely that it’s avoided due to heavy metal poisoning rather than radiation.

If your doing it as a present, it’s worth noting you can get a lot of fun cases for the raspberry pi (most are quite cheap on ali express). I’ve personally got a NES style case. It definitely adds to the nostalgia element.

You just need to snuggle your face into it and breathe deeply!

FYI, a kitchen cupboard full of cans is an excellent target for these. It’s amazingly off putting to hope the cupboard have have the contents staring back at you in silent judgement.
