let’s re-ignite this holy war for the new century. lol
i’m a vim user and i 100% agree with this. lol
it’s well vs perfectly; ESPECIALLY when it comes to battery life.
i’ve been buying linux laptops for the last few years and the battery life between a dell or thinkpad vs system76 or tuxedo is significant thanks to core/libre boots. i’m looking forward to their risc-v offerings.
the hard/soft support alone makes linux smooth sailing, just like any mac (and the price tag is almost the same). i’ve been a linux user since 2002 and it’s nice having paid developers to fall back on who always know more than i do since it’s literally their job.
remember the old emacs vs vi holy wars? lol
emacs a great operating system, lacking only a decent editor
masking is an extremely common coping technique that neurodivergents teach themselves and, yes, also exhausting. (and i would dm’ but i don’t mind sharing it here).
i’ve gotten several forms of help; but the most useful was talk therapy. i had to try with multiple different psychologists until i learned that they’re not all the same and all of them are human beings with their own human foibles; so you’ll have to actively listen and analyze your therapist as much as they’re trained to analyze you. the worst help i got were from psychiatrists who focused and pushed medications that were mere bandages for the problems i had.
windows also has openssh now; so you don’t have to use putty anymore, unless you really like it somehow.
no, if you had the ability to create one and chose not to.
also no, if you didn’t have the ability, realize that and start working at the reasons why. (in my case it turned out to be autism).
i’m on the spectrum too and one of the things that life has taught me the hard way is not to take life advice from neurotypicals; it’s not that they’re wrong or malicious, it’s only that they don’t have a life that’s anything like yours so their advice usually doesn’t work or it’s not applicable.
neurodivergence requires you to build your own mechanisms for handling the shit life throws at you and it also guarantees that you’ll fail more often than not if you don’t get professionally trained help; what you’re feeling will keep happening until you do get that help.
put that healthcare you got to use.
When did Manjaro release an image for x86 MacBooks ?
a long time ago; i used fedora on my macbook for almost 5 years, until it died
the people on the american side mostly didn’t; while a significant portion, but still a minority, of the people on the mexican side did not.
if you want to be a full greybeard, just tell them to rtfm instead of making it for them. lol
i’d image that you’d use other tools to do that and i ask because you’re not the first to extol 7z instead of the old tools that us greybeards of come accustomed to using over the last decades; i dont wanna be left behind to ossify. lol
i always envy people who can do formatting/styling well.
why 7z instead of tar with xz or gzip? is it better somehow?
Np and I can see that you’ve gotten an introduction to the political culture war that’s being waged on lemmy (assuming you weren’t already aware). Lol
One more piece of info that I wished someone had given me when I first started is that a huge majority of lemmings are cool; but there are significantly more center-right users than leftist users so you’ll see more of the vitriol you witnessed in this post coming from the center-right instances like lemmy.world and lem.ee, but the leftists are a scrappy bunch so they’ll respond in kind and mostly from hexbear; hence the defederations.
Tags also work well; it’s how I’ve been making hot fixes for that last 3 years. Lol
People frown upon lemmy.world because it’s a politically American center-right instance on a leftist social media platform that bans leftist discourse via defederation.
If your politics align w them and you don’t mind them deciding what you can and can’t see on your behalf, you’ll do fine there.
I switched from lemmy.world because of that and switched to an instance that doesn’t make a habit of defederating from the most active instances (ie hexbear) and there’s also another center-right instance named lemm.ee that also doesn’t defederate.
None of the reddit user diasporas made a dent on reddit’s usage, but people did start using other platforms.
Like tiktok’s ban: it’s not going to move people anywhere else because most people have multiple social media accounts thanks to marketing and that’s what this is.
There’s a strong chance he’d enjoy it; so maybe it’s best not to just to spite him. Lol
An anti-acid based product meant to relieve gastrointestinal discomfort
and they say it’s so hard to exit vim. lol
