Ugh, I really need to order some glasses. I’m blind as a bat without contacts but I’m also not trying to end up literally blind if the cops break out the tear gas (and Denver PD is still settling lawsuits from the 2020 protests, so I have zero faith in them to not escalate). Didn’t have “buy glasses to protest the rise of fascism” on my 2025 bingo card but I probably should’ve.
Oh man, that’s the dream. I buy it from a local guy who started making his mom’s recipe for friends during the pandemic and now sells at farmers markets and stuff, and I go through about a gallon every month or two. I need him to start selling me buckets of it.
I always liked sauerkraut but I was weirdly against the idea of kimchi as a kid. I think the first time I heard of it, it was described by someone who didn’t like it because it sounded super gross, and I had zero spice tolerance. These days, I put it on practically everything or eat it by itself as a side.

Has she burned her taste buds off? I know some people are like that but I don’t get it. There are so many hot sauces that you can make pretty much anything spicy AND flavorful.
I love vinegar, so I’m not mad at Tabasco, but if I want something vinegary and only kind of spicy, I’m going for Cholula. But anyone who thinks there’s a universal hot sauce is crazy. Different flavor profiles compliment different things. I have a couple of green sauces, a mango habanero, a chipotle, some Frank’s, regular and garlic cholula, sriracha (made by the original farm), and if we add spicy stuff that isn’t technically hot sauce, the list gets even longer.
…I’m temporarily banned from buying any more hot sauce.
I used it once to write a proclamation for work and what it spit out was mediocre. I ended up having to rewrite most of it. Now that I’m aware of how many resources AI uses, I refuse to use it, period. What it produces is in no way a good trade for what it costs.
Dishonored is the one game I’d love to erase from my memory just to have to joy of playing it for the first time again. It’s easily in my top 10 favorite games of all time. I wish there were more like it - Prey was great, too, but not quite the same, and there hasn’t been anything else that’s really scratched that itch.
I didn’t even have years, it was just one single 4th of July where we discovered Jager bombs, drank about 45834 of them, then spilled Jager in the backseat of my car when my sister drove us home. Getting in the car the afternoon of July 5th with a raging hangover and some hot licorice smell was enough to put me off it forever.
This but Jager and not a joke if it was me. It shouldn’t even exist. What a terrible alcohol.
I don’t like mushrooms so I make what’s basically cream of onion soup as the sauce and it’s amazing. Also, stuffing. My mom doesn’t really like either one and it’s just us, so I get to eat all of it myself.

They do, but there are enough conservatives who really hate women that I don’t think we’ll see a female Republican nominee for a long time. VP again, sure, but look at how a lot of people talked about Nikki Haley. She’s plenty authoritarian and a ton of them hated her.
I don’t think a Thatcher type could win in the US (thankfully) - there are a ton of evangelicals who don’t believe in women having authority on the Republican side, even if that woman is a hateful cow who believes the same things they do.
Oh yeah, my next car is definitely going to be an EV, regardless, but it does seem silly to spend the money when A) I drive so little and B) I still have student loans I’m trying to clear out in the next year or so. I’m also secretly hoping that in the meantime Toyota will say, “hey here’s a RAV4 that’s identical to your current one except it’s electric!” because I reaaaally love my car and haven’t found anything to take it’s blocky little place in my heart yet.
Your second paragraph is why I haven’t pulled the trigger yet. I don’t WFH, but my commute is only about 10 miles round trip and most of my errands are done within that same area. My Toyota is 12 years old and only has ~80k miles on it, so it just doesn’t make sense to switch at this point.
That said, I’m casually looking for a new job and my commute would go up dramatically for a lot of options in my field, so I haven’t eliminated the possibility.
Jokes on those people, now people live in vans on purpose (and I definitely can’t afford one).
My mom and I have talked about that kind of thing and she knows to call me directly if someone ever tries to say something happened to me. She’s not stupid, but maybe just not growing up with people constantly trying to scam her at every turn hasn’t prepared her for the depths these assholes will sink to, and they’ve gotten so much more sophisticated.
Unfortunately, I don’t, but I can get an exam pretty quickly, I think. My friend/coworker really needs glasses in general and I’ve been bugging her to go, so maybe this is a good way to get her to finally do it, too.
