  • Eggs because:

Vance gave a quote bashing the price of eggs, but he cited a number much higher than the sign he was standing next to.

Dems pounced on this, mocking the blatant exaggeration and dismissing any concerns about a cost of living crisis.

It stuck around because it’s emblematic of the overall situation:

Repubs don’t give a shit about facts, just vibes, and wanna paint as dark of a picture as possible.

Dems only care about being correct on paper, and don’t give a shit about listening to the problems of ordinary people or doing anything that could be called “radical”.

  • For a general purpose work machine, no. Even for a gaming desktop, probably not. For a gaming laptop, maybe, depending on your lifestyle.

For a gaming handheld? Yeah, definitely. You want a good battery-saving sleep mode, and a quick shutdown/startup as well.

The other scenario I can see is field work machines, for kiosks or task logging, especially if you need to change sites on a regular basis.

NixOS is kinda the best of both worlds, because it does everything in a way that is compatible with an immutable fs, but it doesn’t force you into abiding by immutability yourself.

You can always opt into immutability by using Impermanence, but I’ve never seen any reason to.

Edit: That said, the syntax has a steep learning curve and there are tons of annoying edge cases that spawn out of the measures it takes to properly isolate things. It can be a lot to micromanage, so if you’d rather just use your system more than tinker with it, it may not be a good fit.
