Here in Germany we have similar projects, but it seems the producers/farmers often have absolutely no idea how to anticipate or meet the demand of their customers.

Like, I’m very aware that farming is a seasonal business, you can’t really grow much salad during the German winter without a greenhouse. Perfectly fine. What is not fine is dumping basically your entire salad harvest for that season in a 4 week window onto paying customers.

You’ll get 8 salad heads per week for a month or two, almost inevitably throwing or giving most of it away, and then you’ll get 5 kilos of some roots for the next 3 months.

I think it’s worth distinguishing between censorship and limitations.

When, say, OpenAI removes/blocks porn/nudity and says so, that’s maybe not aligned with your values, but it’s not hiding anything.

The problem here is, we don’t know how large each category is for each model. I’m 100% sure there’s knowledge blocked/removed from Chatgpt without ever publicly saying so.

Also, he’s completely insulated from consequences.

And most importantly for me personally: they seem to disregard people using multiple windows.

I rarely work in one window, and having a large screen for only one app is pretty stupid.

Not a new idea!

For most of the practical use cases, a mechanism to somehow link to your own instance would be enough.

I often stumble upon links to other instances, but from there, there’s no direct way to interact via my own instance. I have to awkwardly copy URL parts around or search the post in my own instances UI.

And then what? Also, that won’t be legal in the EU.

I mean, you take billions of dollars to develop an AI to put into a product you already have, making it less competitive in the process to … develop a slightly better AI maybe?

For the shareholders, having an investment of several billions turn into an unwanted add-on for a few dollars is not a good thing. It’s the opposite, almost like a fire sale.

Hardly anyone really wants copilot, it doesn’t add a lot of value, yet makes the product less competitive.

I totally get rent seeking, Office is so ingrained that it’s almost impossible to get away from it. But why force AI on everybody? Why not add it as a bonus?

These patches do offer some benefits for cloud providers or in general orgs that host a bunch of different products on potentially the same machine.
