After reading that essay I feel a lot more queasy about using Kagi. It’s just that I really despise ads, but I’m willing to put up with it, if the search engine company is more ethical. For the moment I’ve downgraded my account from 10 to 5 bucks a month. I wasn’t using any of the AI features anyway.

I have Audiobookshelf running too, and all of my audiobooks are collections of mp3 files (numbered properly by either Libation or downloaded directly from Libro.fm).
I’m not sure where this “wants single-file variants” comes from.
The Shelf works fine with separate mp3s.
And I love T9 typing so much, I’ve installed the Type Nine keyboard on my iPhone.
But I could never live the dumb phone life.
I have a Boox Go Color, but most Boox ereaders are good devices. You can have a Calibre library self-hosted and use the Android app “Calibre sync” to access it on your ereader.
Some smart entrepreneur could offer a Mastodon-server-in-a-box service, where companies only pay hosting fees for company-name.social and a social network employee.

Why would you trust ‘important.g.co’? Even though it’s google’s own redirect URL, Google would use “important.google.com” in official communications, not fucking redirect URLs.

who says we only use the lo-fi one? It’s nice to experience the ultra hi-def one, and then share photos of those experiences on the lo-fi one.
I don’t have anyone to share my experiences in that ultra high def instagram with.
It’s why nobody left Whatsapp when Meta bought it.
