their good devs and engineers have left
i feel like i’m not actually against ads. i’m against the abuse of ads, that take away from the user experience…
i won’t mind seeing an ad if it doesnt get in the way of what i need to do on the pc. i don’t need an ad popping up when im trying to work on something, launch an application, download a file, etc. an ad in the corner, big enough for me to be aware of it, but obscure enough to not interrupt me will serve its purpose.
problem is, ad exposure is non-regulated and i can’t believe how the constant ad spamming doesn’t seem to phase a lot of people.
lol no kids…
that’s the thing… by me saying talk to kids… im saying address it all… i’m looking to educate them, not shelter them…
if/when i have one, i’m telling them this world ain’t all sunshine and rainbows… here’s how to make the smart and wise decisions…~then i’d hand them their baby bottle~
i’m wouldn’t be looking to curb curiosity tho… that’s not natural at all… instead i’d be looking to address it head on…
i’m telling my kids, yes this happens, this is a thing… share my viewpoints on the dangers of abusing it… and reprimand them for treating it as such.
they’re still going to do it… but at least them knowing that i’m well aware of it as a parent would lessen risk of them turning it into some sort of secret addiction of theirs.
wildly understated too…
like… middle school kids today navigated mobile devices with ease when they were toddlers…
they’re gonna know what a vpn is before they leave high school.
we’re just better off addressing the issue head on than trying to band-aid it… it won’t work
or you know… talk to your kids
i can’t remember the name of the movie, but there were 2 aliens who looked like humans and they were causing some sort of trouble… they had the ability to shapeshfit into other humans
i remember there’s a scene where a protagonist steps into an elevator and there’s some young man listening to his walkman. after some time, the young dude starts making these awkward noises because he’s jamming out on his headphones to the music… the protagonist is totally paranoid as he’s not sure if young dude’s really a human being or an alien, so the elevator finally reaches their floor and they try to escape only to get grabbed by the young man and he reveals himself to be the alien…
so the camera pans to the aliens face looking all menacing and one of the MST3K crew says “you didn’t think i could get jiggy with it!?” 🤣
it’s been years so if anyone knows the ep i’m talking about, i’d be extremely grateful so i can watch it again.
😆 😆 😆 i apparently missed out on a lot!
oh wow i don’t remember that part. i wouldn’t be surprised tho.
good ol’ justin tv lol… i was one of the first few streamers on it… i know that sounds hipster and all, but i miss those days… i got in trouble for streaming family guy and games that didn’t get released yet 😂
they’re so shockingly inept, i can’t believe it anymore
exactly this…
i started out in firefox back in early 2000s… then made the switch to chrome and never looked back…
im not the biggest google-groupie but for me to make the switch, google really had to f up in my eyes… and they did
i will try graphene…
i’ve had issues where my screen goes dark during calls and i can’t wake it up, when calls come thru, i don’t see the caller id until like 3rd or 4th ring, people can’t hear me when on speaker, it chooses what volume different apps chime in at ( this has gotten me in serious trouble with alarms)
I like Keepass - Password manager housed in an encrypted database. (dont’ lose your master password)
i’m using it from now on
not samsung… 😢
i’m at a standstill on deciding which phone to purchase next. i currently have the pixel 6 and i’m actually disappointed with it. the phone is too buggy and im tired of google’s bs.
lmao i loved prison break… so many people i come across hated it
my sentiments exactly…
to be honest, i felt like that general view of culture fueled its way into the real world. i have people at work thinking the IT department is just some bastion of antisocial hermits that you can just talk to anyhow, or know automatically what exact issue you have when you say “my computer is not working”.
i’ve handled some level of helpdesk support over the past 20 years…
till this day, i discover something new that i’ve never come across before. granted, some of it has to do with the newer versions of windows and mobile devices but just whenever i figure i’ve seen it all, something new comes up almost every day
can’t speak for others, but i’m mostly the quiet/introverted/lurker type…
sometimes i just feel like i have nothing valuable to add to the conversation
i will make an active effort to engage more tho
