Even if the tariffs are paused for a month, he’ll constantly use this as a threat now. If not saying again that we should be the 51st state.
I was already avoiding travelling to the U.S., now I’ll make sure I also avoid their products.
Even if there’s no tariffs, the U.S. has proven to be an unreliable “friend” and we should continue to diversify away from them. With friends like that, you don’t need enemies.
I recently became aware of this city and the eruption. There’s a few documentaries on it but I found this one interesting: Life on the Carribean’s Most Dangerous Volcano
Last year I was looking for a vacation in a Carribean country, where I could hike and found Guadeloupe to be interesting, only to discover there’s a volcano there. Eventually I visited Martinique instead, and also learned there is a volcano there too. This one erupted in 1902 and destroyed the town of Saint-Pierre.
So I looked for all the other volcanoes of the Carribean and found the story of Plymouth and Montserrat.
Fun fact, the volcano in Montserrat is called Soufrière Hills, but there’s three other volcanoes in the Antilles called Soufrière. The other ones are in Guadeloupe, Saint Vincent, and Saint Lucia.
