My mom isn’t into tech at all, so she has no real tech that needs supporting aside from her TV.

My dad, on the other hand… he’s in his mid-80s, and sliding into Dementia, so I have to be careful and break instructions down into the simplest and easiest-to-remember form as possible. But even with his problems he still takes the time out to google his own issues, find solutions, and if those don’t work he comes to me with his entire workflow for me to look over to see where he went wrong. And then he still tries to absorb what I’ve done to help him.

The dude is 85, with a 5th grade education, suffering from dementia, and he still does better with “struggling with tech” than a majority of people out there.

I am definitely seeing a time when he starts shutting down certain programs for the last time, and eventually even the entire computer, but damn I’m proud of the old fossil.

Consider this: almost half of all American adults cannot read beyond a fifth-grade level. This bars them from a lot of information and nuance, preventing them from making the decisions that best serve themselves, and forcing them to rely on conservative propaganda that has been explicitly dumbed down to obscure the fact that those choices will hurt them the most.

None of that would have happened with a well-educated populace that could employ bullshit detection and critical thinking.

Hell, I doubt even conservatism in any capacity could survive as a going concern in such a society.

The entire American food pyramid and food ecosystem was explicitly designed to create metabolic disorders and enslave the American people to the for-profit medical system. Canada has had 4 shootings at elementary and high schools in the better part of a century. To increase that, you would have to include colleges and universities, and that would only increase that number to nine.
