I really enjoyed Flow a lot more than I expected The soundtrack and plotting were evocative I just had a problem with the animation, the idea were great, the design was good, the animals all felt real, but it felt like it needed to be run through the renderer a couple more times Everything was bit flat and the lighting seemed a little off and it didn’t feel like that was the look they were going for, just that they didn’t have a big enough budget I’m looking forward to see what’s next from the production team though.
I’ve been on late aughts basic cable dramas lately. After finishing Leverage I’ve rolled onto Burn Notice. Very fun and light and god damn but Bruce Campbell is an American treasure. “Spies, a bunch of bitchy little girls.”
I got to second a recommendation for Flight Attendant. Great show. Kelly Cuoco is much better then I expected and pretty much everything she’s put her hand to after Big Bang has been awesome.
Maybe it’s a because I’m rewatching it right now but the first couple that jumped to my mind was Andy and April from Parks and Rec. Andy is very warm and bubbly and April is not. They’re a very fun couple but I’m not sure about breaking gender roles so much as just not really caring about them. The rest of the couples in P&R are pretty good friendship and passion combos from Ron and Diane’s practical seriousness to Leslie and Ben’s friendly romance. It’s the first place I heard the phrase that’s become my relationship touchstone “I love you, and I like you.”
“I’m a legit snack” - Nyota Uhura
“Shatner figured it out? Shatner? This is a real low point. Yeah, this one hurts.”
“You could never just do the expected, I was just an idea in a bog, But you sewed up your dream and we made quite a team, Jim and Kermit, a boy and his frog.”
Yup it’s dumb fun. That’s it. That’s why it’s my guilty pleasure. I’m in no way a better person for having watched it and it has the depth of a shallow puddle, but I get several giggles when I watch. One thing I’d disagree with you though is Rose McIver isn’t a bad actress (she did a solid turn in iZombie and other shows) and she can charming but the character of Sam is under written I’d agree.
The US Ghosts is so stupid… and so fun. I can’t get enough of Hetty and her gilded age “I’m rich and you’re not” attitude and her love of cocaine.
I’m very disappointed by the lack of ‘The Middleman’ here. A very fun show with a very spunky Natalie Morales. Based on the graphic novels by Javier Grillo-Marxuach and Les McClaine, but the best part was that Javier Grillo-Marxuach was the show runner so it really didn’t lose that crazy fun factor of comic books nuttiness. Seriously rock eating aliens, zombie flying fish, boy bands trying to take over the world. It only got 12 Episodes and it’s still got 100% on rotten tomatoes and even over an 8 on IMDb.
Where I live the commercial TV evening news shows are completely Murdoc level conservative trash. I still watch them I guess.
Laurie Anderson - Strange Angels
The Middleman! It was 1 hour comedy that played on ABC Family that sadly got canceled after its first season. It was a farcical take on the super spy genre based off the comic books of the same name with Matt Kessler and Natalie freaking Morales. Vampire Ventriloquist Dummies, Zombie Flying Fish, and all Alien Boy Bands. It’s a hilarious send up spy and comic book tropes.
It was a quote that I read on lemmy. Someone was talking about dealing with suicidal thoughts and he asked his friend why he shouldn’t kill himself. His friend thought for a minute and then looked at him and said “Mornings are pretty nice.”
It was at that point he realised he shouldn’t be looking for some great reason for some great reason for life and instead just be.
Mornings are pretty nice.
I don’t remember where I was on 9/11 but I was drinking a lot back then so that doesn’t say much.
Honestly the fact we have enough of these to be able to make distinctions is even more depressing.
Fuck this is the way I learn there’s been a school shooting!
Just ripped through The Recruit season one to be ready for season two Light and breezy spy drama which I got to say is fun and just serious enough to be worth watching Aside from that I decided to hit the wayback and watch the first season of Columbo Fuck the late 60 were a time! And Peter Faulk was a serious star from the start I’m really digging it As the first season was all ‘movie of the week’s it’s nice seeing a whole story in a tight 90 minutes that still feels full
