There is not. But I’d say keep SSH closed on the NAS or whitelist only your local IP in the firewall. I do that and turn it off when I don’t need it. It can be a bit risqué messing about with SSH on Synology because of how funky they’ve made the distro it’s running and any changes you make might not persist on reboot or after updates.
It’s basically a front-end GUI to Docker, like how some use Portainer. Synology has pretty alright documentation here. If you’re on mobile, click the menu button on the top right to view the sub-pages for the docs, was confusing at first to find what more it had to say about it lol.
But in short, to spin up individual containers you can go to the “Container” page. But there’s a big lack of control because Synology so I recommend to use Docker Compose under “Projects” for more fine grained control if needed. When you start a project you have to select a location for the project files and you can use dot notation for sub directory and files when doing volume mounting, eg. ./nginx/config:/etc/nginx/nginx.conf
.
There’s a lot to read on for containers in general and working with them on Synology is a tad different and sometimes a lot of hoops to jump through. But it’s definitely nicer in the end than running almost anything outside of Synology’s Office Suite through it!
I’d recommend to make a Dockerfile for it and run it that way. It’ll be quite a lot easier than to manage installing a bunch of dependencies.
Here’s a guide I found pretty good!
Here’s a bit of a shorter one too to get some more reference.
I knew 2025 is gonna be the year of the linux desktop
I could see it function very well as an aid in moderation but not any type of solution like most things with AI is today.
In the case of Lemmy and other defederated social media platforms there’s going to be the usual cost hindrance and then the ethical side of it with excessive electricity usage and training data.
Disregarding that, as most know and everyone should know, AIs are not to be considered reliable or accurate ever. They will falsely flag and give false positives to potential comments and posts and images.
However, having an AI aggregate a list of potential bad comments and posts, then have a user manually checking the results, could help with moderation efficiency. Because how many users actually report comments and posts? How many do mods actually miss out on? There’s a lot of content and limited time.

You’re still cool as heck
An entire spray bottle of Axe.
No, Njalla is. They have a history of stealing domains and banning users without explaining why and absolutely refuse to look into why a user got banned in the first place. On top of that generally terrible customer support.
I’ve had the complete opposite experience with 1984.hosting, support has been great and they even support GPG keys to one of their emails if you want to keep your inquires encrypted.
1984.hosting has a freely available to use DNS service for domains. They’re a good company that does what Njalla say they do but without the bullshit of stealing peoples domains.
I have a .cloud address that works fine. Just make sure DKIM, SPF and HELO is setup and configured properly.
Sleep is FOSS now
Search is definitely lacking sadly. Unsure if there’s even solid plans to make it much better either.
I don’t do a lot of message searching so luckily for me, it’s not something that bothers me too much.
Matrix seems like a perfect fit for you then!
Wow, good stuff. First when I saw the post my brain literally thought it was made for chronically online people but then I remembered about the business applications… Maybe I’m too chronically online…
I might give this a go for a friend of mine who just started a company, it will most likely be an amazing tool for him!
I am curious about the AI implementation, is it also ran on the server or do you connect to an external service like OpenAI? If it’s local, which model is it running and is it ethically sourced data?
I’ll be keeping an eye on this project, seems great and I’m so glad you made it open source too!
Sweden’s on their way to doing that. They’re looking into making encrypted chats illegal…
I started playing recorder in 2018 and have been practicing ever since, bought a couple different instruments after that and it’s been great. I joined a recorder ensemble too and we do local plays every now and then!
Since I started learning I learnt the alt recorder and tenor recorder too. Then I had a ukulele laying about I started to learn as well. I also bought a trumpet but learning that has been slow, I also got a Venova, kalimba, accordion and melodica laying about that I play on occasionally.
I think it’s a mix of finding the right instrument and inspiration to get a goal of. The only reason I started practicing recorder was because of this meme from VRChat
While I love Bazzite and have been using it as my primary OS on my only computer which is a Steam Deck, I’m not sure I can agree that a non-tinkerer should go with it. I’d probably follow along the Linux Mint train honestly. It’s an honest project with their heart in the right place and makes usability a breeze and with a wider community than rpm-ostree based Fedora it’s probably gonna be more minor issues and annoyances in the long run.
I’m dying of stupidity, apparently.
