on my phone it goes from 280 to less than 1, on pc from 700 to 400-ish which is acceptable. but idk what the heck happens on android, becomes unusable.

newcomers may bounce back and forth a few times before settling, I did too. I think one problem is that ubuntu is widely recommended and many people go for it, but it’s not pleasant to use…then they go back to wintoes. the almost fullscreen app menu is too win8. two taskbars. not a lot of customization. last I tried it I couldn’t get apps to launch or show up anywhere after installing.
for me the biggest dealbreaker is that only flatpaks are available
nvidia user? there’s been issues between nvidia drivers and kernel 6.12, i experienced that too. fixed by going back to an older kernel.
that’s disappointing, but i don’t know how reliable that data is. how many websites are they collecting data from, what’s the “unknown” os, and some browsers (librewolf for example) report as being windows to blend in.
how can someone be that fucking ugly
when building a private house, the same advice applies as when building a private pc.
avoid windows.
I’ll be getting a new phone soon but is it a good idea to attempt to flash a new OS on a new kinda expensive device? i hate the idea of a used phone, but i wouldn’t wanna brick something worth a month’s rent. been over 10 years since I’ve attempted that (unsuccessfully).
i use mint and i upgraded my cpu from i5-9600kf to 7800x3d, and ofc mobo and ram too, and i had to reinstall. the system booted up but everything was very stuttery and slow
my grandparents have a very slow laptop with w10 and it keeps telling them it can’t upgrade to 11, and I’m sick of explaining to them that their pc will not stop working…
i would install mint for them since I use it too, but I’m afraid they will find a way to delete items in the panel…or the whole panel. and there ain’t no way to lock it. I have been considering zorin but wasn’t sure of how stable it is. has ever destroyed itself with updates or anything like that?
not really an option for many ppl with useful features missing like satellite image, street view, public transport
there will be an option to turn it off, so no worries
i think mexico should name gulf of california to gulf of mexico
i have seen that thing only once in my life like 15 years ago, and almost burned the house down. then my stepdad just took that nasty bug in his hand and took it outside…
usa sounds like a nightmare
ntfs drives do work in linux, but there may be some issues sometimes. i switched alnost 2 years ago and i have distrohopped a bit. fedora and nobara had intermittent issues with the ntfs drive, it suddenly became unmountable and it takes some fighting to get it back. in mint, the drive constantly corrupts files and entire folders, and the only way to delete those is to boot into windows and delete them there.
oh there absolutely will be a launcher. all of their games since iv require login.
that’s some black mirror stuff
about a million years ago I had an HTC phone that had a trackball mouse thingy. that was cool. i think it was HTC desire, not sure.
what brand is it? just to know what to avoid
