We are the Borg, you will be assimilated. Your biological and technological distinctiveness will be added to our own.

    Poor bastards

On seeing this design twice makes me question where it comes from. Did somebody make an illustration for the books or how did this happen?

The design for the robot itself comes from the 2005 (not the 1981) movie. (trailer - Marvin appears at ~1:10)

But if you mean this particular style of image with this font and such, that I don’t know - perhaps some stickers or tshirts or such became popular to share, it does look nice:-).

Was the 1981 better than the newer one? I mean, still none of the movies come close to the sheer poetry of the book, but as far as a movie goes, is the former at all worth watching?

I liked all of the versions I observed which were in order radio play, 1981 film, books. I would find it difficult to pick a favourite.

In an alternate timeline, Janeway is assimilated by the Borg.

Thus begins the collective’s endless galactic search for coffee.

Lol … they assimilate 21st century humans …

“We do not want your biological and technological distinctiveness for our own. We do not want your culture … eww”

Our collective stupidity is probably our greatest protection from invading alien species.

We’re one of those pre-warp planets where they see we’re on the verge of destroying ourselves and they just shrug and say “sucks to be them, Prime Directive.”

If the romulans on that one ship were able to mentally break an entire cube by just having really bad memories in their heads, maybe the lore would actually allow for something like this

The Borg that went into the past and assimilated the humans of 2063 must have become super depressed. Amazing they managed to make it into the “present time” of the movie.

This has made me wonder what kind of shit happens when a Borg assimilates a symbiote bonded Trill 🤔

Is that like a 2-for-1 mind collective bonus? Or even deeper, like every single Trill ever bonded to the symbiote has a separate personality (er, well voice at least) within the collective?

So you see, kids, it turned out boomers didn’t actually hate younger generations, they were just preparing them to repel the impending Borg invasion in the only way possible. Once the angst-ridden Borg Queen committed suicide and the collective was freed, together we used Borg technology to create the interstellar utopia we have today.
