yeah right BBC ,who told you that anyway ?
i just want to point out that the claims in this article are from Netflix ,so take them with a grain of salt
When they told me I won’t be able to protect my ip address by asserting I was no longer allowed to have a vpn I quit Netflix
People are so disappointing.
Wonder how many cancelled?
Probably more than they’d like you to know
That information exists in the article
The 1 million from last year? Thats not on the same timeline as the gains they received.
The article published the new total number of subscribers which is growing nicely. It’s less relevant how that number is growing for netflix. The databis taken from their quarterly report, by the way. You can read it yourself too. Here’s the letter to the shareholders. By the way, presenting false information in those reports as a public company is a criminal offence.
I have family members who are otherwise not worried about having to save money who are dropping netflix as soon as they get done binge watching their current show. Why? because they are paying for four people to use the account, and because of their new rules their parents aren’t getting to use the account since they don’t live in the same house.
I hate to break it to you netflix, but octagenarians who have no idea how modern technology works aren’t going to understand how to setup an account, and they definitely aren’t going to want to deal with having to call their children every week when they are asked for the “permission code” just to have the privelege of accessing what their children are already paying for.
On top of this, I’m sure their children don’t want to have to deal with having to input this on a weekly (or however so often) schedule. It’s a frustrating situation all around, and I have no idea why they thought it was a good idea.
F
This is good news. Means they’ll leave us alone.
that’s another way to look at it
As long as they continue to pump out content pirates win.
I think this report is a lie because their password / permission / multi account checking is still not properly configured. In my circle of friends all of them said they would jump the ship because they were mostly paying it for their old parents. At the moment, only one person of the group had nuisances because of password sharing, the others are continuing to use netflix as they were doing six months ago.
Probably not a lie people are just kinda dumb

I’m not particularly surprised. I think a lot of people are using it for free because they can.
They still value Netflix, but why pay for it if you don’t have to.
For some reason I’ve not been kicked off my parents account, but if I were kicked off, I’d subscribe.
Idk. This shit is why I decided to get into piracy rather than paying so much to a stupid corporation.
I don’t want to reward their shit behaviour, if anything because if it works others will follow suit and soon enough you will have to do this shit for all subscriptions.

Complete lie. Do you all really think Netflix is going to be like: “Yeah, we f**ed up, out password crackdown sucks”
Why would they lie about the user count? Netflix is a publicly listed company. A lie like that would be a criminal offence.
Ok, maybe lie was not the right word. Replace lie with “decorating the truth”
I don’t think hanging on to a prediction that didn’t come true makes sense even if it is painful to accept it. It’s much better if you accept the reality as it is and form a new world view based on it. Some people left the platform, myself included, but a lot of other people subscribed. It turns out password share wasn’t that big of an issue and it didn’t alienate too many customers.
To be honest, it didn’t matter to me either. I left netflix because they started charging 20Eur/month in my country and that’s just outrageous. To put it in perspective, AppleTv+, Disney and Prime cost me a combined 16Eur/month and I get free deliveries too. Fuck netflix.
